Tony says I installed the AMP Powersteps on a 2016 Dodge 2500 Crew Cab 4wd. As a first time installer, it took me about 6 hours. Be sure you have access to a 90 degree angle drill, you will need it to drill holes for the rivets, since there is not a lot of room to work with around the front mounts. I used an electric Milwaukee 3/8" angle drill and was cramped for space. Maybe a cordless Dewalt 90 degree 3/8" drill would have been better? The "plug & play" wiring was easy and the harness is of high quality. One thing I learned, is to run the harness and plug it into the motors before you start zip tying it. Once the steps were installed and powered up, they were hanging up on the pinch weld area during deployment under the cab. I read some trouble shooting tips online and read that other installers said to step and put your full body weight on the boards at the mounting area, this is an important step! In the installation instructions, it stated to firmly step on the boards before installing the large rivets at the top of the mounts, which I did, however I didn't bounce or put enough weight on them. Firm footing or a light bounce on the board will help the hinges seat themselves. After standing on the steps and bouncing a bit to get the hinges to seat into place, they worked great and have plenty of clearance. Learn what others are saying about the product.

Michael Briscoe on 7/26/2018 2:41:40 PM

Review: Electricstep, listed as one of the Amp_Research sellers, was great. Order and shipment was quick, and package arrived without damage. They also matched lower web prices without me needing to ask! Power Step intall was per the directions, works great and looks good. Hats off to both companies!

Review: I would buy these again without a doubt and they work just as described. Its easier to get in and out and my wife likes them more than I do.

"Great product!"

Review: Arrived fast! Came with easy and helpful instruction for installation. For first time installer it took me almost 8 hrs. However I went slow to insure Proper install. The only issue I had was the Passenger side was hitting the lip on the body weld when retracting. I chose to grind the lip so it would clear however a friend with the same problem on his Dodge chose to use spacers when mounting to the body. Both fixes seemed to work well. All and all I am very happy with my new steps!

"AMP RESEARCH POWERSTEP"

John Derham on 8/2/2016 7:19:15 PM

Review: After several months of debating which side step to purchase for my 2015 RAM 2500 4x4, I went with my initial and preferred choice of the PowerStep with the plug & play option. The installation was simple and straight forward with the only concern being the clocking of the drivers side motor and in getting the passenger side board to lock into place. The plug & play option is a no-brainer and while it has only been 4 months, the steps have performed flawlessly with continuous daily use. I couldn't be happier with the product, the quality, the price and the service. I will be buying more AMP Research products this year - especially the BedStep.

"Stomp!"

Aaron on 5/2/2016 4:52:15 PM

Review: Considering that most of the holes on my 2016 RAM Mega Cab were already drilled, the installation wasn't too hard. PRIOR to putting the final rivets in, it says to stand on the steps. I suggest stomping on them. Jump up and down, get the family are to party on them, etc. I would actually drive for a couple of days before drilling the final holes. Mine contacted the pinch weld significantly which meant I was rewarded with getting to grind on my 2 week old truck. All things said and done, I love the steps. Oh! Don't bother with the "pass thru OBDII additional plug. The stock plug is tucked away nice and the pass thru plug requires drilling inside the cab and will yeild a non factory look.

Review: So does this power step running board fit on the 2012 with the plug and play version?

Review: You have to prepare to get down to business when deciding to take on a project. That's what I had to do recently when I installed my new AMP Research running boards. Everything worked as it should after the install was completed. I'm sure I could easily do it again if I had to help someone else, and in less time too! The choice was clear for me. I needed some type of step or running board for my new truck, but I don't like the nerf-bar look. The AMP Research steps are a little further down and offer a more than adequate step surface, much more than other step designs. The need to drill holes into the rocker panel for the minimal wiring was a surprise, but everything was clinched perfectly with silicone, all-in-all it turned out well. If you haven't heard, GM and Ford have been rigging their new trucks at the manufacturing plant with AMP Research running boards for a number of years. The construction of high-grade aluminum construction with a powder coat finish guarantees superior strength and unsusceptible from corrosion. Additionally, the OEM-quality hardware is long-wearing resulting in a smooth operation. Some drilling is needed for the power motor and LED light installation. Yet, the upshot is impressive. The fit and finish is top quality, the instructions are clear, on-target, and simple to understand. I loved that I was able to install it myself and it works great! To boot, I didn't have to sacrifice clearance. It's a great product!

"excellent customer service"

Review: To start off... I'm definetly an impulse buyer. And cheap... I'm writing this review to let other buyers no that Electric Step s return policy is what they say. I had bought the AMP research power steps from them and had went to an auto shop to find out what they would charge to install. Through conversation with the Auto shop it was said they could get me the steps in the next day for $139.99 more then what I had paid through electric step. I was so eager to have them installed asap. So I contacted electric step to see about a refund through email. And before I got a reply from electric step paypal had sent me an email saying there was a refund from electric step for the full amount. I'm very pleased to say if I need anything for my truck ide definelty go back to there website and buy again. Thanks Electric Step. You ve helped me with the fear of buying online. "Excellent"

Richard Fullen on 8/13/2014 6:33:49 PM

Review: These work great! The customer service was amazing, even called me to discuss shipping to save me money! Where does that happen? Install note: If your passenger door makes your driver's side steps lower...you have the two purple wires on the OBDII plug backwards...ask how I know!
